Hooray, this year we eventually are off to the island of Ireland to undertake potentially the hardest of the challenges to date. Start date 29th MAY 2022 The route is that taken by the competitors in Race Around Ireland and I understand that a hand cyclist has not completed the route in one attempt !!!!
Apart from being the first hand cyclist on a normal or an adapted hand bike the other difference this year, which will make the challenge even harder, is that the Team has no professional back up team / company, the Team is truly flying solo.
The Team will consist of a van and 3 other members from our local cycling club, Hafren CC. Unfortunately our female member Nicola Graham, at the eleventh hour has to withdraw, due to severe back issues, which has resulted in a period of convalescence. However, Nicola aims to be at the start in Trim and cheer us on over the first leg of 1300 mile route.
